Cancer, or Arbhudha, has become increasingly common since the latter part of the 20th century. Earlier, the disease was relatively rare, but today, cases have risen sharply. Several factors contribute to this alarming increase, including lifestyle changes, dietary habits, environmental pollution, drug misuse, infections, and exposure to radiation. In addition, improved awareness and diagnostic facilities have revealed a higher number of cases than ever before. This trend highlights the urgent need for strategies to reduce the risk and manage the condition effectively. One significant approach has been the integration of Ayurvedic Cancer Therapy, as followed by the Athulya Ayurvedic Medical Research Centre (AAMRC).
The surge in cancer incidence cannot be attributed to a single cause. Instead, it results from a combination of lifestyle, environmental, and biological factors:
To address this growing concern, there is a need for preventive strategies focusing on clean water, unpolluted air, and a healthy environment. Maintaining a lifestyle that minimizes exposure to known carcinogens is essential. Ayurvedic practices have long emphasized maintaining bodily balance and strengthening immunity, which can support preventive efforts. By adopting dietary discipline and environmental mindfulness, individuals can reduce their risk and create conditions favorable for maintaining health.
For the past six years, AAMRC has been involved in the cancer treatment of patients with different types of cancer. The treatment begins with specific preparatory procedures, or upakarmas, which are designed to ready the body for the main the rapeutic interventions. These procedures include virechanam (the rapeutic purgation), vamanam (the rapeutic vomiting), nasyam (nasal therapy), snehakriya (oil therapy), and rhaktamoksham (blood purification). Each of these methods is carefully selected and performed under the guidance of trained Ayurvedic physicians according to the patient’s condition.
After the preparatory therapies, patients receive medicinal formulations targeting the three doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, along with treatments based on Thridhosha and Dhadudosha principles.
The goal is not only to manage cancer but also to strengthen the body’s resilience, reduce side effects, and improve overall quality of life.
The rising incidence of cancer underscores the need for comprehensive management strategies that combine prevention and effective treatment. Ayurvedic practices, as implemented by Athulya Ayurvedic Medical Research Centre, provide a structured approach that integrates preparatory procedures, dosha-specific therapies, and strict dietary management. By combining environmental awareness with time-tested the rapeutic methods, individuals have the opportunity to reduce risk and support the body’s natural healing processes. Addressing cancer in this manner requires both careful monitoring and adherence to principles that restore balance, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes and quality of life.
